About

Lagos Island Business Fair

This novel, youth-focused, socio-economic initiative for businesses, entrepreneurs, and the youth in Lagos Island Local Government, Lagos State, and Nigeria at large, is initiated by Lagos Island Connect (LIC), in collaboration with the Lagos State Ministry of Commerce Industry & Cooperatives, Lagos State Office of the Sustainable Development Goals & Investment (OSDGI), the Lagos Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI), the Lagos Island Local Government under the leadership of the Executive Chairman, Mayor Adetoyese Tijani Olusi and the Lagos Island East LCDA under Executive Chairman, Mayor Muibi Alade Folawiyo.

We are targeting small and medium business owners on Lagos Island, and other cities, nationally and internationally.
The Fair is scheduled to hold for four days (4 days) to amplify the objectives of the Lagos State Sustainable Developments Goals (SDG). Particularly, in the areas of training and knowledge acquisition, entrepreneurship, and enhancement of the local economy via local sourcing, production and patronage. It also plans to promote linkages and partnership with financial institutions, domestic and international investors.

There are sessions set aside for special entrepreneurial training, presentation of big ideas among others, as well as a cross section of Business Edutainments as projected by our many creative entrepreneurs.

In consonance with the aims and objectives of the government on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which is geared towards poverty alleviation and youth empowerment for both the educated and the uneducated groups. Developed after thorough and rigorous research on the challenges facing the youths in Nigeria, and incessant job losses in the country, we deduced that many jobs are lost due to the perennial dependence on foreign products and services as opposed to our made in Nigeria goods and services. This has a negative impact on local enterprise and renders our ideas unproductive due to lack of support for local businesses.

We are channeling our activities to growing the economy and curbing the menace of unemployment which has caused serious setbacks and negative impacts on the lives of our youths. This trend has greatly endangered the quality of life, economic and moral standards in our society.

We therefore, seek Government, Private, Individual and Development Agency partnerships to ensure this dream comes true and to be able to galvanise the enormous potentials and talents embedded in the citizens of Nigeria.
